What To Expect Tesla is looking to hire a Data Scientist to contribute to the development of the data factory and manufacturing software services for our cutting‑edge battery products. This position will help drive technological advancement by delivering data and software solutions to solve high‑volume manufacturing problems. Battery development is at the heart of Tesla’s mission, and this is an exciting opportunity to address the central challenges in scaling electric vehicle manufacturing while seeing the physical impact of your work. Tesla is a demanding and fast‑paced environment where you will work with a highly motivated team on extremely challenging projects.

What You’ll Do

Leverage large‑scale manufacturing data systems to extract key improvement insights and facilitate engineering investigations

Develop robust and scalable algorithms/predictive models to improve manufacturing process and quality control capabilities

Build self‑serve data tools to empower data‑driven manufacturing

Collaborate with Software Engineers and Controls Engineers to seamlessly integrate models/algorithms into production processes

Experiment with data acquisition & processing approaches to enhance the quality of manufacturing data

Clearly convey analyses and findings for cross‑functional stakeholders

What You’ll Bring

Strong experience with Python and SQL database queries

Proficiency with large volume data preprocessing and data wrangling

Strong mathematical/statistical knowledge relevant to process control and monitoring

Experience with data warehouse and data lake technologies such as Clickhouse, S3

Experience with modern machine learning concepts and ML lifecycles

Proficiency with data visualization techniques and tools using Tableau, R Shiny, Python Dash, Plotly, etc.

Degree in quantitative fields such as Statistics, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or equivalent experience

Expected Compensation

$108,000 - $216,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
