Position Overview We are Boeing Materials & Process Engineering: a global research and development team creating and implementing innovative technologies that make the impossible possible and enable the future of aerospace. This specific position is for a Materials and Processes (M&P) Engineer focused on Paints, Coatings, and Sealing support to airplanes in Everett, Washington. The role provides materials and process application support to 767 and 777 manufacturing locations throughout the Everett site.
Responsibilities
Define requirements and develop tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes used in the engineering design, manufacture and/or maintenance of products.
Create specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes. Maintain compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations and promote standardization across business activities.
Formulate and evaluate emerging chemical applications to improve current and future manufacturing processes and airplane products.
Develop modifications to chemicals or equipment to enhance safety, ergonomics, and the environment. Design and produce specialized tooling to improve production flow, accuracy, reliability and quality.
Manage test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements. Conduct analysis to characterize performance or determine reasons for failure of tools, materials, parts or processes. Implement corrective and preventive actions.
Coordinate with multiple organizations, including Design, Quality, Production, and Suppliers to solve a variety of materials and process challenges.
Basic Qualifications (Required)
Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, materials science, physics or chemistry. Master’s degree preferred.
5+ years’ experience in an engineering and manufacturing environment.
Strong proficiency interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
Excellent interpersonal communication and ability to perform effectively in a team environment.
Experience using measurement and test equipment.
Experience with aerospace or automotive finishes, coatings, sealants.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired)
10+ years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment (aerospace strongly preferred).
Knowledge of aircraft fuels and lubricants (e.g., greases or dry film).
Knowledge of organic chemical processes (such as top-coating, priming, surface cleaning).
Knowledge of material processing for sealants and finishes processing (e.g., plating, painting, surface preparation, fay surface sealing, fillet sealing).

Union: This is a union‑represented position.
Pay Range:
Mid‑Level (Level 3) : $114,750 - $155,250;
Senior‑Level (Level 4) : $138,550 - $187,450.
