Responsibilities

Planning and directing the day‑to‑day operations of assigned store locations.

Developing strategies to improve customer service, drive store sales and increase profitability as projected by budget and goals.

Ensuring customer/donor needs are met by maintaining good customer/donor/community relations; resolving complaints; ensuring service is quick and efficient.

Scheduling store employees to ensure appropriate coverage in‑store and donation center; coordinating daily morning and shift‑change team meetings.

Supervising employees in the performance of duties to ensure compliance with published directives and guidelines.

Interviewing and processing new store employees.

Providing training for new personnel on store policies and procedures.

Issuing disciplinary warnings, conference reports, employee evaluations, and goals.

Ensuring store is maintained and inventory levels are adequate; ensuring timely completion of regular and accurate “rag‑out” from the sales floor.

Back‑Room Processing – ensuring material handlers work effectively and efficiently to meet daily processing goals.

Ensuring adequate change at the beginning of each day, safeguarding cash in registers, and banking cash receipts per ARCC policy.

Processing paperwork, especially as it relates to time and attendance compliance.

Attending monthly district meetings and leading store‑monthly meetings to inform personnel of new policies and directives.

Assuring safety measures are consistently established and maintained; conducting weekly store meetings with the store team.

Implementing appropriate loss‑prevention measures.

Performing other written and/or verbal duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

High School diploma/GED or equivalent.

Minimum of 2 years of prior retail management/supervisory experience.

Ability to accurately handle POS/cash register operations and cash transactions.

Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.

Successful background check, including criminal history and sex offender registry.

Effective communication with management, coworkers, customers, and donors.

Physical Demands

Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.

Capacity to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, clothing carts, merchandise carts, rolling clothing racks, fixtures, furniture dollies, platform trucks and carts, hand trucks, and miscellaneous carts.

Ability to move product up to 50 lbs.

Performing various repetitive motion tasks.

Ability to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Schedule Our stores operate 7 days per week. Work schedules are determined by management, and employees must be flexible to ensure adequate store coverage. Full‑time associates may be scheduled for any full‑time shift, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

The Salvation Army will comply with all governmental orders and contractual obligations related to COVID‑19 safety measures, including mandatory vaccination of staff if required. Requests for exemptions on religious or medical grounds will be considered when available.
