Position Overview
The Associate General Counsel – Contracts is responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of contracts within the organization. This role ensures that all agreements align with company strategy, mitigate risk, and comply with legal and regulatory standards. The Associate General Counsel – Contracts collaborates closely with operations, legal, finance, and other teams to drive effective contract management and support organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Lead contracts team comprising one other attorney and one to two paralegals, ensuring efficient and effective contract processes.
Develop and implement contract management policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance and operational efficiency and improve the contracting process.
Partner with executive directors and business leaders in home health, hospice, and senior living businesses to evaluate vendors, work with national contracts to improve rates and terms, and lead efforts to ensure a close partnership with leaders throughout the company.
Lead the drafting, negotiation, execution, and management of a wide range of contracts, including vendor, service, medical director, and confidentiality agreements.
Oversee contract renewals, amendments, extensions, and terminations, maintaining a comprehensive contract database for easy access and audit readiness.
Conduct contract related diligence and assist business leaders in setting up new contracts for startups and acquisitions.
Provide guidance and training to staff on contract management, compliance, and risk mitigation. Liaise with legal counsel to address complex contract matters and ensure all contracts comply with applicable laws and regulations (e.g., HIPAA, Anti‑Kickback Statute).
Qualifications
Strong ownership mentality with a willingness and proven ability to lead across teams; 5+ years of experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role, preferably in healthcare or a regulated industry.
Strong knowledge of contract law, negotiation, and compliance requirements.
Proven track record of successful contract negotiations and risk management.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Proficiency in contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage complex projects.
Preferred Experience
Experience managing contracts in healthcare, medical device, or pharmaceutical sectors.
Familiarity with industry‑specific regulations and standards.
