About The Role The Jira Administrator is responsible for configuring, managing, and supporting the company’s Atlassian ecosystem, including Jira Software, Confluence, and Jira Service Management. This role ensures that workflows, automation, permissions, and integrations are aligned with business requirements, security standards, and compliance frameworks. The administrator will also be responsible for governance, documentation, training, and managing the system lifecycle.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Administer and maintain Jira Software, Confluence, and Jira Service Management.

Configure workflows, fields, screens, SLA policies, automation rules, and notifications.

Manage plugin lifecycle: evaluate, test, install, and upgrade add-ons.

Oversee backups, upgrades, system monitoring, disaster recovery, and performance optimization.

Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and filters to meet business and compliance needs.

Integrate Atlassian tools with external platforms using REST APIs and webhooks.

Manage user/group roles and permissions with attention to least privilege and compliance.

Perform regular audits, archive unused projects, and enforce governance standards.

Provide training and workshops for technical and non-technical users; develop runbooks and documentation.

Collaborate with IT, DevOps, and business leaders to translate requirements into solutions.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years as a Jira Administrator in medium to large environments.

Strong knowledge of Jira Software, Jira Service Management (ITSM), and Confluence.

Familiarity with Atlassian Cloud environments.

Experience with system upgrades, patching, performance monitoring, and recovery processes.

Knowledge of ITSM frameworks (e.g., ITIL).

Familiarity with scripting (Groovy, Python, or Bash) for automation.

Strong communication and documentation skills.

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.

Preferred: Atlassian certifications (Jira Administrator, Agile Development, or equivalent).

Preferred: Experience with compliance frameworks (SOC, HIPAA, HITRUST, PCI).
