Senior Data Scientist (TS/SCI with FS Poly Required)
Location: Jessup, MD
Clearance: Active TS/SCI with Full‑Scope polygraph
Base Pay Range $135,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
Position Overview We’re looking for a senior data scientist to develop machine learning and statistical models that turn complex datasets into actionable insights. In this role, you’ll prototype and test different algorithms, selecting the best based on performance metrics. If training data isn’t available, you’ll create experiments or simulations to generate it. Your day‑to‑day will involve building models, developing reports and visualizations, and working closely with subject matter experts to automate manual analysis. You’ll also collaborate with engineers to integrate analytics into production environments and ensure scalability for large datasets.
What You’ll Do
Develop and refine machine learning models to uncover patterns and insights
Work with subject matter experts to extract key information from raw data in formats such as SQL tables, network logs, and structured metadata
Automate analytics and translate manual processes into scalable, data‑driven solutions
Create experiments and statistical tests to validate findings and improve decision‑making
Guide a team of data scientists, providing technical direction and ensuring high‑quality analytics
Stay on top of emerging machine learning trends and integrate state‑of‑the‑art techniques into solutions
Collaborate with engineers to transition prototypes into production‑ready analytics
What We’re Looking For
Master’s degree or higher in a quantitative field (statistics, mathematics, computer science, engineering)
At least ten years of experience in data analysis, machine learning, and programming with Python, R, SAS, or MATLAB
Database experience using MongoDB or MariaDB (deployment, management, debugging, and scaling)
Experience leading teams and driving analytic development from concept to production
Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to translate qualitative goals into quantitative models
Experience with AI/ML RMF SSP authorization, AI/ML services contract and configurations, and AI/ML request security review
Basic Qualifications
Master’s degree in a related field and ten (10) years of technical experience.
Alternatively, two (2) additional years of experience in software development, cloud development, data analysis, or developing descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics can substitute for a master’s degree.
Security Clearance Requirement
Must possess an Active TS/SCI with Full‑Scope polygraph.
Salary Range $135,000.00 - $175,000.00 (commensurate with experience). Compensation may exceed this range for exceptionally qualified candidates.
