About the Role We are looking for a Sales Representative who will help expand Abaka AI’s presence across the AI ecosystem. In this role, you will build relationships with leading AI companies, understand their data needs, and guide them through how Abaka’s datasets, data services, and engineering capabilities can support their model development. You will manage the entire sales journey, from outreach and opportunity discovery to negotiation, deal closure, and handoff to our delivery teams.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining strategic thinking with hands‑on engagement, who can build trust with technical and business stakeholders, and who is motivated by driving growth in a fast‑moving, global environment. As one of our early sales team members in the United States, you will play a key role in shaping our go‑to‑market approach, refining client feedback loops, and representing Abaka AI to some of the most innovative teams in the industry.
Responsibilities
Establish and maintain relationships with artificial intelligence companies according to the company’s business development plan. Responsible for outreach, communication, negotiation, and overall client relationship management.
Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation to contract signing and project handover, ensuring a smooth transition to the delivery team.
Follow up on the execution and payment progress of ongoing projects, and actively support the pursuit of new business opportunities.
Maintain and expand long‑term client relationships by understanding their needs, gathering feedback, and providing consultative solutions that align with Abaka AI’s services.
Collect, update, and analyze customer and market data to identify new business trends, partnership opportunities, and strategic insights.
Collaborate with project management, engineering, and product teams to ensure client requirements are accurately translated into actionable plans.
Support sales presentations, proposals, and documentation to communicate Abaka AI’s technical capabilities and value propositions effectively.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or above in business, marketing, engineering, or a related field.
2 or more years of experience in business development, sales, or account management. Experience in AI, data, or technology industries is preferred.
Strong adaptability and resilience, with the ability to manage complex client relationships and guide projects at the appropriate pace.
Skilled in identifying and navigating client decision‑making structures, with the ability to guide each stage of the sales process and provide professional consultation and follow‑up.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, paired with a client‑focused mindset and strong sense of ownership.
Demonstrated teamwork, proactive problem‑solving ability, and capability to work independently in a fast‑paced, global environment.
Fluent in spoken and written English. Additional language proficiency is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits The base salary range for this position is $70,000 - $100,000 USD annually with a generous commission structure. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work at Abaka AI. This role is eligible for equity, as well as a comprehensive benefits package (health, dental, vision, PTO, flexible work schedule).
