Job Responsibilities
Understand project and contract specifications; provide technical support during commercial discussions involving variation orders, scope and responsibility, cost disputes, etc., with various project stakeholders.
Define scope split matrices for engineering sub‑contractors.
Be responsible for the planning and execution of relevant engineering work schedules in line with construction schedules provided by project planners.
Review and comment on engineering schedules and planned activities proposed by engineering sub‑contractors.
Review and comment on Topside and Marine electrical system deliverables issued by engineering sub‑contractors, such as design philosophies, electrical consumer lists, electrical load balances, single line diagrams, room layouts and deck arrangements, cable schedules, hazardous area plans, etc. Ensure the designs comply with contract requirements, classification rules, and local authority regulations, and monitor progress.
Monitor progress of drawing schedules and ensure planned electrical engineering design activities align with the overall project execution plan.
Review and ensure equipment layouts are in compliance with contract requirements, classification rules, and local authority regulations. Coordinate with various disciplines to resolve issues related to material handling, constructability and installation, operations and maintenance, safety, etc.
Review procurement engineering documents issued by engineering sub‑contractors—such as technical specifications, equipment data sheets, MTOs, and technical bid evaluations. Participate in bid clarification meetings with vendors and assist in vendor selection.
Review and consolidate MTOs for issuance to procurement.
Review and comment on vendor documents and participate in vendor FATs as lead representatives.
Participate in technical meetings, progress reviews, 3D model reviews, and workshops; address issues related to electrical design and interface.
Act as lead representatives in key discussions and safety workshops such as HAZID, HAZOP, E‑HAZOP, Electrical FMEA, etc., and make sound engineering decisions.
Be responsible for monitoring and controlling material costs and man‑hours within the allocated limits for the scope of work, and promote cost‑consciousness among team members.
Serve as the point of contact for reporting team members to Escalate any major issues or bottlenecks, and take necessary preventive/corrective actions to resolve them.
Address comments from clients, classification bodies, local authorities, and third‑party consultants, with support from engineering sub‑contractors.
Communicate with vendors and other disciplines to ensure design changes are captured in a timely manner and implemented in both the design documentation and 3D model.
Follow up on all electrical engineering activities after handover from engineering sub‑contractors, including document updates, vendor document reviews, construction support, and commissioning activities.
Drive lessons‑learnt activities and implement corrective actions to prevent repeated mistakes within the team.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum of 5–8 years of relevant experience in offshore engineering projects, particularly in Floating Production Units (FPU), FPSOs, or similar oil & gas/marine projects.
Hands‑on experience with FEED (Front‑End Engineering Design) and Detailed Engineering phases.
Prior involvement in multi‑disciplinary coordination and working with engineering sub‑contractors is preferred.
Strong knowledge of electrical engineering systems and deliverables.
Experience reviewing vendor documents, participating in FATs, and coordinating procurement‑related engineering.
Ability to manage engineering schedules, coordinate across disciplines, and review sub‑contractor deliverables.
Comfortable leading and participating in design reviews, and technical clarification meetings.
High level of ownership and accountability for assigned tasks.
