This Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing and specifying mechanical and electro‑mechanical parts and assemblies that will be used within products in the renewable energy, microgrid, EV charging, crypto mining, and data centre markets. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will support the Design Engineering team in the design and qualification of mechanical components, subsystems, multi‑level assemblies and system architecture of various products in the energy industry.

The position requires coordination with other disciplines, understanding customer and market requirements, ensuring products are easy to manufacture and assemble, supporting the product development process and after‑sales needs. Knowledge of drawing standards, change notice practices and ability to produce Bills of Materials based on design output are required.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Minimum 5 years of experience; 8 years of product design experience preferred

Working knowledge in 2D/3D CAD design software (Inventor, CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo)

Design experience with structural enclosures, mechanical assemblies, HVAC systems, mechanical piping, firefighting systems and power generation

Problem‑solving skills, root‑cause analysis and corrective action experience

Experience in Bill of Material creation and Change Notice processes

Design experience in electrical components or equipment within the energy industry preferred

Experience with programming languages and controls software preferred

Manufacturing and field support experience preferred

Proven ability to lead designers and other engineers preferred

Travel: 10–25%

Work Schedule: 7 AM – 5 PM, Monday–Friday. Works a sufficient schedule to meet expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Provide guidance to designers and less experienced engineers in design activities

Review technical drawings and mechanical specifications to ensure proper application of products within mechanical and electro‑mechanical assemblies

Support the design of mechanical components and subsystems for power/low voltage products including component selection, general layouts, assembly design and installation

Perform complex design calculations to ensure design compliance with project requirements or review others’ work for correctness

Study and understand related government and industry standards that govern the products being developed

Produce relevant documentation needed to meet project goals, mechanical layouts, component prints, assemblies and compliance documents

Interact with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing and Industrial Engineering staff on a regular basis

Participate and present technical information during design meetings or reviews

Support the creation of 2D prints and 3D models for parts components

Support the creation of complex 3D layouts of top‑level and sub‑level assemblies

Help develop product Bill of Material structures to allow for modularity and configurability of products

Prepare Bills of Materials and prepare Change Notices to release components and assemblies

Support costing activities to ensure pricing targets are achieved at the project level

Support creation of technical manuals for operation and maintenance of related products

Self‑check own work to ensure accuracy to established drawing and design specifications and standards

Provide technical assistance for prototype and pilot builds along with production support as needed

Work with suppliers to integrate various components into higher level system designs

Support service, aftermarket and installation teams as needed

Perform other related duties as required and assigned
