Schedule 24 hours per week on day/night rotation with rotating weekends and holidays.
Job Profile Summary This role focuses on providing professional and non‑professional nursing care services in accordance with physician orders. The Clinical Care Technician works under the supervision of a professional nurse and collaborates to meet the needs of patients within the scope of the role, providing basic care services. The position requires no RN or LPN license but may work under the direction of registered nurses depending on the unit. The role is most commonly applied to patient care and/or scientific/laboratory jobs, requiring moderate supervision and routine problem‑solving.
Job Overview The Clinical Care Technician assists in direct patient care, provides environmental support, and facilitates patient safety on the designated unit and other units as needed. The technician completes and maintains competencies in role‑specific skills, and provides an environment supportive of a patient‑ and family‑centered model of care.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assists the professional registered nurse in the functional care of patients, ensuring efficient and patient‑centered care appropriate to the developmental age of the patient population.
Provides or assists patients with activities of daily living in a safe, efficient and respectful manner.
Greets patients, families, visitors and other staff according to service standards, responding to requests promptly.
Collects, records, and communicates the patient’s clinical data to the assigned nurse in a timely manner.
Prepares rooms for admission/transfer/discharge, assuring that standardized equipment is ready for use.
Transports or accompanies patients as necessary to other areas of the hospital safely and respectfully.
Provides comfort measures such as positioning, changing linen, back rubs, etc.
Promotes patient activity by assisting with mobility and range‑of‑motion exercises as assigned.
Sets up for procedures as requested by nursing or medical staff.
Cleans and discards used equipment and supplies following procedures.
Collects specimens and performs specimen testing, maintaining Standard Precautions and preparing specimens for the lab.
Maintains biomedical equipment, checking par levels and working order for blood pressure cuffs, EKG cables, leads, oximeter cables, etc., and sends malfunctioning equipment to Medical Engineering per procedure.
Performs wound cleaning and applies DSD after wound assessment by a nurse.
Performs 12‑lead EKG and connects monitoring equipment to patients under direction of the nurse.
Manages patient belongings, completing a belongings list.
Priming intravenous tubing with solution containing no medication.
Documents and performs patient admission, transfer and discharge tasks as requested.
Answers call lights and seeks appropriate personnel/action, performing hourly rounding per guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Medical Assistant (MA).
Completion of Nursing Fundamentals in an accredited nursing program.
One (1) year of related experience as a Nursing Assistant (NA), Patient Care Assistant (PCA), Critical Care Tech (CCT), or Patient Care Tech (PCT).
Acute care experience.
Physical Requirements
Lifting up to 30‑35 lbs and turning patients; prolonged standing, walking, twisting, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, sitting, kneeling, and squatting.
Manual dexterity for fine hand manipulation and computer keyboard use.
Ability to see computer screen and report findings.
Skills & Abilities
Ability to read, write, and comprehend medical terminology.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to work with detailed, confidential material.
Computer experience.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide age‑appropriate care.
Compensation The base pay ranges reflect the minimum qualifications for the role. Individual offers are determined using a comprehensive approach considering relevant experience, certifications, education, skills, and internal equity to ensure fair, consistent, and aligned compensation.
Pay Range:
$20.12 - $25.15 per hour.
