North 6 is a 30‑bed unit caring for adult patients requiring care for cardiac conditions including interventional cardiology, cardiac surgery, and heart failure.

This position is 36 hours per week on a day/night rotation with rotating weekend shifts and holidays.

Job Profile Summary This role focuses on providing professional and nonprofessional nursing care services in accordance with physician orders. It involves performing nursing support duties such as basic patient care, environmental support, and patient safety facilitation under the direction of physicians, mid‑level practitioners, and registered nurses.

Job Overview The Clinical Care Technician works under the supervision of a professional nurse, assisting in direct patient care and supporting a patient‑and‑family–centered model of care.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Preferred Qualifications

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Medical Assistant (MA).

Completion of Nursing Fundamentals in an accredited nursing program.

One (1) year of related experience as a Nursing Assistant (NA), Patient Care Assistant (PCA), Critical Care Tech (CCT), or Patient Care Tech (PCT).

Acute care experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist the professional registered nurse in functional patient care, ensuring efficient, patient‑centered care.

Provide or assist patients with activities of daily living safely and respectfully, using proper body mechanics.

Welcome patients, families, visitors, and other staff according to service standards, responding promptly to requests.

Collect, record, and communicate patient clinical data to the assigned nurse in a timely manner.

Prepare rooms for admission, transfer, or discharge, ensuring standardized equipment is ready for use.

Transport or accompany patients to other areas of the hospital safely and respectfully, serving as a sitter when requested.

Provide comfort measures such as positioning, changing linens, and back rubs.

Assist with patient mobility and range‑of‑motion exercises as assigned.

Set up for procedures as requested by nursing or medical staff.

Clean and discard used equipment and supplies following procedures.

Collect specimens and perform specimen testing, maintaining Standard Precautions and preparing specimens for the lab.

Maintain biomedical equipment, checking par levels and working order for blood pressure cuffs, EKG cables, leads, oximeter cables, etc., and report malfunctioning equipment to Medical Engineering.

Clean wounds and apply DSD after the nurse has assessed the wound.

Perform 12‑lead EKGs.

Connect monitoring equipment to patients under the direction of the nurse.

Care for patient belongings and complete belongings lists.

Prime intravenous tubing with solution containing no medication.

Perform and document patient admission, transfer, and discharge tasks as requested by the nurse.

Answer call lights and seek appropriate personnel/action; conduct hourly rounding per established guidelines.

Physical Requirements

Lift up to 30–35 lbs and turn patients; prolonged standing, walking, occasional twisting, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, sitting, kneeling, and squatting.

Manual dexterity for performing procedures and operating a computer keyboard.

Ability to see computer screens and reports.

Skills & Abilities

Read, write, and comprehend medical terminology.

Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

Handle detailed, confidential material.

Computer experience.

Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age‑appropriate care.

Pay Range $20.12 – $25.15 per hour.
