Full-Time | Night Shift (3 nights, 12‑hour shifts)
The Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) is a 20‑bed Critical Care Unit specializing in Neuro and Trauma Critical Care Management. The unit is part of a comprehensive Stroke Center and a Level II Trauma Center, caring for complex patients including:
Neuro/TBI/Stroke/spinal cord injuries
Complex surgical cases
Trauma patients
Medical critical care patients
Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, Director, or Executive Director, the
Supervisor of Nursing – SICU
acts as Charge Nurse/Nursing Supervisor during night shifts. The role involves overseeing unit activities, coordinating staff, and ensuring delivery of high‑quality patient care in an efficient, cost‑effective manner. The supervisor fosters an optimal environment that supports nursing standards and promotes team excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as Charge Nurse/Supervisor on the night shift, managing workflow, staffing, and clinical operations.
Provide direct patient care and clinical leadership in the SICU.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and leadership to optimize patient outcomes.
Maintain compliance with ANA Nursing Administration standards and regulatory guidelines.
Facilitate staff development, education, and performance evaluations.
Monitor quality metrics and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure adherence to safety protocols, policies, and documentation standards.
Mentor and support nursing staff through coaching and feedback.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
California Registered Nurse License (active upon hire)
BLS Certification (American Heart Association – upon hire)
One professional nursing certification relevant to the specialty (upon hire)
Minimum 2 years recent clinical experience in SICU or related specialty area
Charge Nurse or Relief Charge Nurse experience
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN or equivalent)
Previous leadership experience in critical care nursing
