Description
As a Dental Hygienist at Webster Dental Care, you will play a vital role in patient care by delivering high-quality preventive and therapeutic services. You will work closely with our dentists and the rest of the team to ensure that each patient has a comfortable, effective, and educational experience during their visits.
Requirements
Patient Care:
Perform comprehensive dental hygiene exams and cleanings for patients, including scaling, root planing, and polishing teeth to prevent and treat gum disease.
Patient Education:
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, the importance of regular cleanings, and the prevention of oral diseases.
X-Rays:
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as needed to assist in diagnosing oral health issues.
Medical History:
Review and document patient medical histories, including allergies, medications, and other relevant information.
Screening:
Assist in the screening of patients for oral health problems such as gingivitis, periodontitis, and cavities, and refer patients for further treatment if necessary.
Treatment Documentation:
Maintain accurate and thorough patient records, including detailed notes about each treatment provided, patient concerns, and recommendations.
Collaboration:
Work with the dentist to develop and implement treatment plans, including follow-up care for patients.
Preventive Care:
Provide fluoride treatments, sealants, and other preventive services as directed by the dentist.
Sterilization & Infection Control:
Ensure that all instruments and treatment areas meet the highest standards of cleanliness and safety in accordance with infection control protocols.
Patient Comfort:
Ensure that patients are comfortable during their visits by answering questions, alleviating concerns, and providing gentle care.
Qualifications
Licensed Dental Hygienist:
Must be licensed to practice dental hygiene in the state of Illinois.
Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Dental Hygienist preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply.
Knowledge of Dental Procedures:
Strong understanding of dental procedures and oral health care, including prophylaxis, scaling, root planning, and periodontal treatments.
Excellent Communication Skills:
Ability to communicate effectively with patients to explain treatments, educate on oral hygiene, and discuss preventive care.
Attention to Detail:
Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards of patient care.
Team Player:
Ability to work collaboratively with dentists, office staff, and other healthcare professionals in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Professionalism:
Positive attitude, reliability, and a compassionate approach to patient care.
Infection Control:
Knowledge and adherence to OSHA, CDC, and infection control standards.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with digital X-rays and dental practice management software (e.g., Eaglesoft, Dentrix).
Bilingual skills (Spanish, Polish, or other languages) are a plus.
