What You Will Be Doing Business Analyst 1

– as a knowledgeable professional in State business processes and enterprise accounting, payroll, and reporting systems, the position is responsible for developing and revising user manuals and training materials for agency staff. The role also assists with software configuration, ongoing maintenance and upgrades, patch testing, and module implementation with IT staff and system vendors/contractors. The position may focus on a specific system module and business process or conduct business analysis and support for various software solutions and issues on an ad hoc basis.

Business Analyst 2

– as a subject matter expert in State business processes and the enterprise accounting, payroll, and reporting systems, the position provides solutions, guidance, and training for agency staff, and conducts software configuration, ongoing maintenance, upgrades, patch testing, and module implementation with IT staff and system vendors/contractors. The role may focus on a system module and business process or conduct business analysis and support of various software solutions and issues ad hoc.

Qualifications (Competencies)

Analysis and Assessment : Uses information technology to access, collect, analyze, maintain, and disseminate data and information.

Problem Solving : Identifies and analyzes problems; weighs relevance and accuracy of information; generates and evaluates alternative solutions; makes recommendations.

Adaptability : Adjusts planned work by gathering relevant information and applying critical thinking to address multiple demands and competing priorities in a changing environment.

Oral and Written Communication : Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information; makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

Technical Credibility : Understands and appropriately applies principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialized expertise.

Minimum Qualifications Business Analyst 1

Two years of professional experience in an administrative field such as procurement, accounting, human resources, computer and information systems, and so on. Or, for positions in the specialized field of accounting, four years of advanced technical and/or supervisory accounting experience (e.g., Accounting Technician 3, Accounting Technician 4, Accounting Supervisor 1, or Accounting Supervisor 2). Substitution: Post‑secondary education in accounting, finance, business administration, business management, marketing, economics, statistics, computer and information science, logistics, or information systems management, or similar coursework will substitute for up to one year of the required experience.

Business Analyst 2

Two years of advanced professional experience in an administrative field such as procurement, accounting, human resources, computer and information systems. Substitution: Graduate or upper‑division post‑secondary education in accounting, finance, business administration, business management, marketing, economics, statistics, computer and information science, logistics, information systems management, or similar coursework will substitute for up to one year of the required advanced professional experience.
