Schedule:

36 Hours, Day/Evening, Every 3rd Weekend, Call Required

Position Summary As a member of the surgical team, the surgical technician provides patient care during surgical procedures by creating an aseptic and safe environment. Duties include prepping and sterilizing rooms, transporting patients, passing instruments, and providing assistance to surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other staff during surgery. They use technical and aseptic techniques to ensure compliance with established sterile standards and procedures.

Responsibilities

Prep and sterilize surgical rooms and instruments.

Transport patients to and from the operating room.

Pass instruments and supplies during procedures.

Assist surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other staff as needed.

Maintain aseptic techniques and sterile environment.

Education & Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.

Graduate of an accredited/approved program in surgical technology (or completed a U.S. Armed Forces medic or corpsmen program).

Certifications & Licenses

Surgical Technician certification required (unless employed as a surgical technologist in a surgical facility on or before July 1, 2013).

Knowledge and Skills

Previous surgical tech experience preferred.

Ability to speak, read, and write English.

Ability to interpret and use medical terminology and abbreviations.

Computer proficiency to access and enter computerized data/information.

Effective interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, physicians, and other hospital staff.

Organizational skills to set priorities and complete assigned work efficiently.

Sign-On Bonus

$10,000 sign-on bonus for candidates with over 1 year of multi-specialty experience, paid after 6 months of employment.

$5,000 sign-on bonus for candidates with less than 1 year or single specialty experience, paid after 6 months of employment.

Compensation $38.94 – $49.38 per hour.

This estimate is based on the minimum job qualifications. Base pay is determined by education, experience, licensure, and certifications related to the position. Additional compensation includes benefits (medical, dental, vision, pharmacy), contract increases, Flexible Spending Accounts, 403(b) savings matches, earned time cash out, paid time off, career advancement opportunities, and resources to support employee and family wellbeing.
