Position Summary As a member of the surgical team, the surgical technician provides patient care during surgical procedures by maintaining an aseptic and safe environment. Duties include preparing and sterilizing rooms, transporting patients, passing instruments, and assisting surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other staff during surgery. The technician ensures compliance with established sterile standards and procedures.
Sign-On Bonus
$10,000 for candidates with over 1 year of multi-specialty experience, paid after 6 months of employment.
$5,000 for candidates with less than 1 year or single specialty experience, paid after 6 months of employment.
Education and Certification Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be a graduate of an accredited/approved program in surgical technology, or have completed an Armed Forces medic or corpsmen program.
Certifications:
Surgical Technician certification required (unless employed as a surgical technologist in a surgical facility on or before July 1, 2013).
Knowledge and Skills
Previous surgical tech experience preferred.
Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.
Accurate interpretation of medical terminology and abbreviations.
Computer proficiency for accessing and entering data.
Effective interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, physicians, and staff.
Organizational skills to prioritize and complete assigned work efficiently.
Compensation Range $38.94 – $49.38 per hour. This estimate is based on the minimum job qualifications and reflects a comprehensive approach to base pay determination.
