Job Summary The Business Unit Risk Team Lead engages with Technology Business Unit leadership in its management of risks and controls as well as its execution of risk program requirements. This role leads a team of risk professionals to support the execution of enterprise risk programs and focus on existing and emerging risks within the Business Unit.
Key Responsibilities
Engage in risk management activities with the line of business, proactively identifying existing and emerging risks, evaluating their significance, and supporting risk acceptance or mitigation.
Lead a team of risk specialist and analyst‑level professionals responsible for executing various operations and enterprise risk programs in accordance with program requirements (e.g., RCSA, issues management).
Assist business line leadership with identifying, assessing, controlling, mitigating, and communicating risks associated with business processes and decisions; provide oversight and governance of the control environment.
Support the development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
Provide risk management support and oversight for change activities (both business and regulatory changes).
Provide oversight and support for open risk, audit, and regulatory issues, evaluating root cause and corrective action plans, and ensuring remediation implementation.
Support audit and regulatory exam engagements.
Communicate with business unit leadership regarding risk, regulatory, audit and loan review activities; promote risk initiatives and supporting metrics.
Work with the Risk Program Execution team to execute and support all risk program activities as defined in policy.
Coach and develop risk professionals.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related scientific or academic field, or equivalent education and training.
8+ years of risk management experience in financial services or a related field.
6+ years of leadership experience.
Subject matter expertise in the assigned line of business.
Broad risk and regulatory knowledge, with emphasis on credit, market, liquidity, compliance, operational, reputation, and strategic risks.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Ability to think critically and strategically, multi‑task, and drive change.
Strong quantitative, governance, and analytic abilities.
Ability to provide effective challenge to senior leaders and business partners.
Proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office.
Ability to travel occasionally, including overnight.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Finance, Technology, or Business, or equivalent education and training.
15 years of experience in a large financial institution or relevant environment.
Technology delivery experience: cloud, software development, service delivery, product management, infrastructure, enterprise architecture.
Professional designation related to risk management or the assigned business unit.
Strong knowledge of the assigned business unit.
Knowledge of financial accounting and reporting systems.
Proficiency with the ARCHER GRC Platform.
Proven experience in formal risk roles, specifically supporting technology organizations.
Experience creating risk mitigation issues and validating evidence for issue closure.
Annual base salary:
$164,000 - $205,000.
