Senior Human Resources Generalist Reporting to the Senior Human Resources Manager, the Senior Human Resources Generalist serves as a trusted partner to leadership and employees, providing hands‑on HR support while ensuring compliance with federal contract requirements, company policies, and applicable employment laws. The position is part of the HR Advisor team supporting DCS employee owners and business operations. This hybrid role requires 2–3 days per week on‑site at our Alexandria, VA office and occasional travel to support employees at field or customer locations.

Essential Job Functions

Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs, including compensation, benefits, leave, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management, productivity, recognition, employee engagement and morale, occupational health and safety, and training and development.

Collaborate with Operational and Resource leadership to develop and implement human capital planning initiatives that align with and support strategic business objectives.

Handle employment‑related inquiries from employees and managers, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.

Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.

Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, recommend best practices, and review policies and practices to maintain compliance.

Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

Handle special initiatives or projects as the business environment requires.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

U.S. citizenship required.

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.

8–10 years of progressively responsible HR experience, including a strong emphasis on Employee Relations within the past 8 years.

At least 6 years of direct HR experience in the prior 8 years in a government contracting environment; 8 or more years strongly preferred.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with (or ability to quickly learn) UKG UltiPro or similar HRIS platforms.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills; ability to build trust and influence across all levels.

Strong analytical, organizational, initiative, and problem‑solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail and follow‑through.

Proven ability to manage complex employee relations issues with sound judgment, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Solid understanding of employment laws and regulations, including experience applying them in a federal contracting environment (FLSA, SCA, and security clearance processes).

Skilled in managing priorities, meeting deadlines, and working independently in a fast‑paced, hybrid environment supporting multiple sites.

Ability to travel up to 15% to satellite offices, customer locations, and conferences as needed.

Desired Skills

PHR and/or SHRM‑CP certification.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
