Business Unit Description As a member of the Digital Data Networks (DDN) business in TE Connectivity, you will play a key role in the design of high‑speed products for the connector, cable assembly, and radio system industry. The focus is on high‑speed communications and connectivity within data centers and wireless infrastructure.
Job Overview The Converged Products Reliability & Testing (R&T) Leader will lead a dedicated team of R&T engineers. Responsibilities include driving standardized Design for Reliability Engineering (DfRE) and Robustness Validation (RV) methodologies for all High‑Speed Cable Assembly Products in the DDN portfolio and working closely with customers, Product Development Engineering (PDE), Manufacturing Process Development Engineering (MPDE), Field Application Engineering (FAE), and Advanced Quality Engineering (AQE).
Role Description Key duties involve collaborating with global COE to develop and implement reliability test plans aligned with TE’s LeanPD stage gate process, overseeing reliability integration during technology and product evaluation, and managing NPI product development from customer specifications through product release into mass production. The role requires expertise in destructive HALT/HAST testing, failure analysis, root‑cause corrective actions, and the use of structured development approaches such as DFSS, Toyota‑inspired LPDS, and Robust Design principles. Additionally, the leader will support failure analysis, root cause and corrective action for line scrap and customer returns, and competitive benchmarking activities.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Strategy
Develop and implement standardized DfRE and Robustness Validation methodologies.
Drive Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) culture and provide training/coaching to product teams.
Lead reliability integration from customer specification through product release.
Manage team performance, development, and resource allocation.
Technical Excellence
Oversee reliability testing using HALT/HAST and Test‑to‑Failure methodologies.
Partner with engineering teams for rapid prototyping and iterative design improvements.
Support failure analysis and root cause corrective actions.
Develop custom test equipment and specifications with Global R&T COE.
Team Engineering Responsibilities
Integrate reliability considerations throughout product development lifecycle.
Analyze customer requirements and mission profiles for optimal validation testing.
Perform FIT estimation, Weibull analysis, and reliability calculations.
Lead corrective/preventive action processes.
Maintain centralized reliability database and present findings to leadership.
Product Development & Testing
Integrate reliability considerations throughout product lifecycle from customer specification to mass production.
Analyze customer requirements and mission profiles to design optimal validation tests.
Apply accelerated testing (HALT/HAST) and test‑to‑failure strategies to identify failure modes and reliability limits.
Understand load requirements and derive internal stresses for reliability planning.
Data Analysis & Calculations
Perform FIT estimations using industry standards (Siemens Norm SN29500) and calculate final values from test data.
Analyze test data using statistical methods and reliability calculations (MTTF, Weibull analysis).
Provide guidance on sample sizes and test duration requirements.
Use data‑acquisition systems and analysis tools effectively.
Process Management
Lead corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes for reliability issues.
Develop and implement risk mitigation plans for identified failure modes.
Create and maintain centralized database of test plans, models, and field data for project reuse.
Drive reliability planning for various environmental and use conditions.
Communication & Leadership
Present reliability status and risks to executive leadership to influence design decisions.
Communicate with customer reliability experts and report analysis results.
Participate in design reviews and lead reliability sections.
Champion reliability culture across cross‑functional teams with metrics‑driven approach.
Use accelerated testing to explore design margins and enable rapid concept selection.
What Your Background Should Look Like Must Have
Bachelor's/Master's in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or Mechatronics.
10+ years of reliability engineering experience with electronic/mechatronics products.
Extensive experience with test equipment, HALT/HAST testing, and custom test systems.
Global cross‑functional team experience.
Excellent English communication skills – written and verbal.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
Knowledge of FIT estimation, Weibull analysis, FMEDA, FTA.
Reliability Engineering certification (ASQ, TUV, Reliasoft, etc.).
Preferred
DFSS Black/Green Belt certification.
Standards knowledge (ISO 16750, IEC 60068, IATF 16949, etc.).
Data center and high‑speed connectivity product experience.
Converged Products development background.
Competencies Strategy, Execution, Talent (for managers).
