Senior FOIA Paralegal, CGS Federal (Contact Government Services)
Pay Range:
$65,357.76/yr – $94,405.65/yr (Base pay range). Pay determined by skills and experience.
Employment Type: Full Time, Mid-Level Department: Legal
Responsibilities
Conduct searches and analyze result sets to separate non‑responsive documents from responsive documents.
Screen responsive documents for privilege or FOIA exemptions.
Redact and code responsive documents.
Perform legal research.
Draft legal documents and responses.
Qualifications
Paralegal certificate, JD, or current ABA‑accredited law student with at least one year of study.
Minimum one year of litigation paralegal experience; trial experience is very helpful.
Experience with Nuix Investigate, Relativity, or other eDiscovery/document review tools.
Experience processing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and applying FOIA rules and exemptions.
Basic legal knowledge: standard legal citation, drafting legal motions and memoranda; proficiency with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, and knowledge of computer applications and document management systems.
Ability to deliver high‑quality work under pressure and to work independently.
Ability to obtain a government security clearance.
Desired Experience
Two years using Nuix Investigate for document review and tagging.
Two years processing FOIA requests for federal agencies.
Fluency in statutory and regulatory guidelines for FOIA responses.
