Job Summary
Senior Automation Design Engineer – Lead the design, integration, and implementation of building automation and control systems for HVAC, chiller, and energy solutions.
Responsibilities
Design, model, and document control solutions for mechanical equipment (chillers, boilers, AHUs, pumping plants, clean rooms).
Create and review design submittals, RFIs, and technical specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements.
Lead automation design, coding, and PLC configuration for BAS and HVAC systems.
Manage relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and customers to deliver quality control and schedule performance.
Conduct system analysis, scope of work development, and diagnostic troubleshooting of control systems on site.
Mentor and coach field staff and customers on automation design, implementation, and training.
Support warranty turnover and post‑project support for assigned accounts.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline.
7+ years of field engineering experience and 5+ years of BAS automation, programming, and control design.
Strong knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, LON, BACnet, and proprietary control architectures.
Experience with ALC, Alerton, Delta, Distech, Honeywell, JCI, Loytec, Niagara, or Trane control product lines.
ficiency in PLC programming, HMI/SCADA, and design software (Visio, AutoCAD, Revit).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to interface with customers and senior management.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites.
Preferred: CEM certification, BAS analytics/FDD platform experience.
Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary range: $130,000 – $150,000 per year. Comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, disability, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, and employee assistance program.
