SUSTAINABILITY: Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (college credit) San Diego Community College District – District Wide – Adjunct (Part‑time / Temporary)

Position Overview Applicants may be added to the adjunct pool for a variety of campuses and continuing education centers. Positions are filled on a semester‑by‑semester basis. Applicants will be contacted directly if their qualifications meet a department’s needs.

Major Responsibilities

Teach assigned lecture or lab classes as determined by the department.

Provide instruction in accordance with the established curriculum and course outlines.

Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.

Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.

Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member.

Teach all scheduled classes.

Maintain accurate records.

Provide quality instruction, create and maintain an environment that encourages free discussion of ideas, interests and issues.

Be available to students outside of class as required.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Anthropology or Archaeology; OR

Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or Archaeology AND Master’s degree in Sociology, Biological Sciences, Forensic Sciences, Genetics, or Paleontology; OR

California Community College Instructor Credential (valid for life) in Anthropology or Archaeology.

Master's degree in any biological science; OR

Bachelor’s degree in any biological science AND a Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Biophysics, or Marine Science; OR

California Community College Instructor Credential (valid for life) in Biological Sciences.

Master's degree in Philosophy; OR

Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy AND Master’s degree in Humanities or Religious Studies; OR

California Community College Instructor Credential (valid for life) in Philosophy and Religion.

Master's degree in Geography; OR

Bachelor’s degree in Geography AND Master’s degree in Geology, History, Meteorology, or Oceanography; OR

California Community College Instructor Credential (valid for life) in Geography.

Master's degree in Sociology; OR

Bachelor’s degree in Sociology AND a Master’s degree in Anthropology, any ethnic studies, Social Work, or Psychology; OR

California Community College Instructor Credential (valid for life) in Sociology.

Any equivalent qualifications.

For non‑U.S. degrees, coursework must be evaluated by a professional association that is a member of NACES or ACEI.

Additional Requirements

Submit official transcripts upon offer of assignment.

Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment; renewal required every 4 years.

Complete a Live Scan fingerprinting at district expense; clearance must be received prior to first day of employment.

Provide original documents proving eligibility to work in the United States.
