Position Overview PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION: Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (college credit)

San Diego Community College District – District Wide

Location District Wide; applicants should live within commuting distance to San Diego.

Position Type Adjunct – part‑time / temporary faculty positions. Hours are flexible, including day, evening, weekend, and/or off‑campus classes.

Responsibilities

Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction in accordance with the established curriculum and course outlines.

Design and administer lectures and laboratory activities, as determined by department.

Provide faculty support and be available for students outside of scheduled class time.

Maintain accurate, timely records of attendance, grades, and evaluations.

Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.

Fulfill all professional responsibilities of a part‑time / temporary faculty member.

Create a learning environment that encourages free discussion of ideas, interests, and issues.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications –

Degrees must be from regionally accredited institutions and include:

Political Science Track:

Master’s in political science, government, or international relations AND at least two upper‑division or graduate courses in American Politics, Public Policy, and/or Public Administration; OR Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in economics, history, public administration, social science, sociology, or a related field AND at least two upper‑division or graduate courses in American Politics, Public Policy, and/or Public Administration.

Management Track:

Master’s in business administration, business management, business education, marketing, public administration, or finance AND at least two upper‑division or graduate courses in American Politics, Public Policy, and/or Public Administration; OR Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in economics, accountancy, taxation or law AND at least two upper‑division or graduate courses in American Politics, Public Policy, and/or Public Administration.

The equivalent otherwise.

Desired Qualifications:

Golden State Community College Instructor Credential in Government (Theory and Practice, Local and International) – valid for life.

Other Requirements

Submit official transcripts.

Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam; renewal every four years.

Undergo a LiveScan fingerprint clearance at the district’s expense before first day of employment.

Present original documents proving eligibility to work in the United States.

Complete a Request for Equivalency Form (link available) if the exact degree listed above is not yet obtained.

Foreign degree holders must have coursework evaluated by a NACES or ACEI member association and submit a copy of the evaluation with the online application.
