Senior Composite Process Engineer – GEOTEK LLC Job Summary GEOTEK, a market leader in high-performance engineered composite structural solutions, seeks a highly motivated engineer to lead projects that optimize the composite manufacturing process. The Senior Composite Process Engineer will foster continuous improvement, increase productivity, and drive safety, quality, and productivity across the organization. Previous experience in composite manufacturing is highly desirable.

Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership

Provide leadership in developing composite manufacturing capabilities for new filament‑wound products, including process development, equipment/tooling design, continuous improvement, and operations support.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with peers and leaders across the organization.

Align with the operations team by maintaining open and frequent communication with managers and supervisors.

Work cross‑functionally to support composite production quality, equipment readiness, new product development, and cost reduction/supply‑chain risk mitigation.

Provide support and coaching to other composite manufacturing engineering team members.

Own assigned engineering responsibilities of the composite manufacturing processes, primarily filament winding.

Project Management

Scope and manage engineering projects that improve safety, quality, and productivity.

Develop project plans, establish milestones, schedule tasks, and delegate responsibilities.

Production Support

Guide and train production operations teams for swift root‑cause investigation and resolution of manufacturing issues.

Own short‑term and long‑term improvement initiatives and non‑conformance mitigation plans.

Develop operations‑focused work instructions and troubleshooting guides.

Continuous Improvement

Research, propose, and implement capital expenditure projects, including new tooling and equipment.

Use GEOTEK’s test laboratory to optimize composite design for performance and manufacturability.

Challenge existing procedures and propose new technology and processes to enhance safety, quality, and productivity.

Document best practices for processing and tooling design.

Organization

Maintain clear documentation of operating standards and processes to support training and technical assistance.

Keep accurate records for future reference.

Promote a clean and organized workspace.

Job Requirements

Four‑year Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (mechanical, manufacturing, composite, or chemical preferred).

5‑10 years of professional experience in continuous processing manufacturing, with recent composites/filament winding/pultrusion experience strongly preferred.

Energetic, hands‑on problem solver, self‑motivated, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Independent action from a vision; ability to develop actionable tasks and projects.

Professional, concise communication skills (written and verbal) are essential.

Familiarity with common thermoset resins (polyester, vinyl‑ester, urethane) and tooling design is highly desirable.

Experience with 3D modeling using SolidWorks, including GD&T per ANSI Y14.5, is desirable.

Experience with MS Office tools.

Detail‑oriented and organized.

Ability to support off‑shift trials and production support requests.

Physical ability to stand, lift, and use manual and power tools.

Adherence to corporate policies and flexibility with changing priorities.

Physical Work Conditions Time will be split between the floor and the office or meeting rooms, ranging from 25% to 75% on the production floor or engineering labs. Floor work involves machinery, fumes, and chemicals. Office work involves sitting at a desk, using a computer, and phone.

Compensation Salary range: $94,536 – $129,987 annually. Final offers may vary based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
