Overview The Giants Community Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization of the San Francisco Giants, is hiring Junior Giants AmeriCorps Ambassadors for the 2026 season. Ambassadors act as liaisons between the Giants Community Fund and local youth‑serving agencies in their designated communities, and play a major role in implementing the Junior Giants program at the ground level.
About the Junior Giants Program Junior Giants is a free, noncompetitive baseball and softball program for over 23,000 underserved boys and girls ages 5‑18 years old. It focuses on the Four Bases of Character Development — Confidence, Integrity, Leadership and Teamwork — and offers programs in Health, Education and Bullying Prevention.
About AmeriCorps AmeriCorps is a community service program funded by the government and community partners. It helps communities meet specified needs, providing opportunities for education, service experience and life skills. For more information, visit www.americorps.gov.
Position Details Program Implementation (80%)
Be present on game and practice days to interact with participants and families, ensuring program quality.
Distribute the Word of the Week packs and ensure discussion questions and rewards are delivered correctly.
Deliver Junior Giants program information to increase knowledge of healthy eating and physical activity; introduce the “Round the Bases Reading” program, track reading progress, facilitate recognition of minutes read, and distribute a prize for reaching 720 minutes.
Introduce and explain bullying prevention to participants using a video, organize professional speakers to share the Strike Out Bullying message, and lead participants in a pledge to respect teammates, coaches, parents, and friends.
Distribute weekly Junior Giants Program newsletters and program information through LeagueApps to players and coaches/team parents.
Data Collection (10%)
Assist with league wrap‑up at season end, including inventory help and ensuring LeagueApps data accuracy (players, attendance).
Collect end‑season data through parent surveys, coach/team parent surveys, and participant interviews.
Keep accurate attendance logs of participants throughout the season via LeagueApps.
Supervision and Training (10%)
Attend AmeriCorps Ambassador Orientation in April or May.
Participate in a focus group with other ambassadors.
Attend weekly calls/webinars with regional ambassadors and Giants Community Fund staff.
Create an end‑of‑season report summarizing the assigned Junior Giants league, and meet in person with a Junior Giants Coordinator/Manager for an exit interview.
Qualifications
Must be at least 17 years of age.
Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident, and must pass a background check.
Strong communication skills (written & verbal).
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to interact with diverse populations and age groups.
Proficiency with Zoom and communication in a virtual setting.
Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
Reliable transportation to league sites in the targeted region.
Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
Must not have been released for cause from a previous AmeriCorps term of service.
Must have not served more than 3 previous AmeriCorps terms of service.
Time Requirement
25‑35 hours per week, flexible schedule to serve April‑August.
Selected applicants will be required to attend a virtual interview during the January‑April hiring period.
Benefits of Service
Bi‑weekly living allowance (up to $5,400).
Education award of $1,565.08 after completing the service term.
Eligible for student loan forbearance on federal student loans.
Ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
Member performance evaluation.
