We’re looking for an experienced Human Resources Generalist to join our client’s team!
In this role, you will perform advanced HR functions with a high level of confidentiality, independent judgment, and operational excellence.
The HR Generalist leads full‑cycle talent acquisition, onboarding compliance, benefits and CalPERS administration, leave management, HR reporting, and supervisor training.
You will also provide workflow direction and technical guidance to the HR Specialist, ensuring smooth execution of HR processes across the organization.
This is a key role for a proactive, solutions‑driven HR professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is committed to high‑performance HR service delivery.
Key Responsibilities Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
Lead full‑cycle recruitment for all roles, including sourcing, screening, interviews, and offers
Build recruitment pipelines with universities, community groups, and professional associations
Manage internal promotional opportunities with transparency and timely communication
Onboarding & HR Compliance
Oversee completion of onboarding requirements (I‑9, background checks, HRIS setup, policy acknowledgments, compliance documentation)
Track and support probationary periods to ensure consistent documentation and communication
Benefits & CalPERS Administration
Administer health, dental, vision, EAP, and ancillary benefit plans
Process CalPERS enrollments, separations, and service credit adjustments in partnership with Finance
Support planning and implementation of Open Enrollment
Leave of Absence / ADA / Workers’ Compensation
Coordinate the interactive process, medical certifications, light‑duty assignments, and return‑to‑work steps
Ensure timely completion of all compliance notifications and documentation
Employee Relations (Confidential)
Conduct initial fact‑finding and documentation of employee relations concerns
Provide coaching on performance expectations and policy interpretation
Escalate complex matters to the HR Manager
HR Reporting & Workforce Analytics
Run advanced HRIS reports to identify workforce trendsSupport dashboard development tracking recruitment, turnover, leave usage, and compliance outcomes
Workflow Direction
Provide operational guidance and technical direction to the HR Specialist
No direct supervisory authority
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred (HR, Business, Public Administration, Psychology, or related field)
5–7 years of progressively responsible HR experience
Strong knowledge of California employment law and compliance standards
Experience with benefits and leave management
CalPERS experience strongly preferred
Proficiency in HRIS reporting and data analysis
Excellent communication, judgment, and emotional intelligence
SHRM‑CP or SHRM‑SCP strongly preferred (or ability to obtain within 18 months)
