Hermeus
Hermeus is a high-speed aircraft manufacturer focused on the rapid design, build, and test of high‑Mach and hypersonic aircraft for the national interest. Working directly with the Department of Defense, Hermeus delivers capabilities that will ensure that our nation, and our allies, maintain an asymmetric advantage over any and all potential adversaries.
Avionics Integration Lead You’ll take point on the build, integration, and testing of advanced avionics systems that power our flight vehicles. In this highly dynamic, hands‑on role, you'll work directly with engineers and technicians to drive harness builds, rack and system integration, and bench testing. You’ll provide day‑to‑day technical guidance, ensure quality standards are met, and help grow the capabilities of your team—supporting fast‑paced development cycles and flight‑critical milestones.
Responsibilities
Lead the day‑to‑day execution of avionics builds, integration, and troubleshooting activities
Interpret wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and schematics to guide complex harness and system assembly
Build, inspect, and test high‑reliability wire harnesses; perform and oversee PCB soldering, repairs, and detailed bench work
Oversee installation and functional testing of avionics components, racks, and flight deck systems
Coordinate technician workload and communicate daily build priorities based on program needs
Act as the primary interface between the avionics shop and engineering—redlining drawings, proposing design improvements, and surfacing issues early
Drive build quality, tooling design, and documentation improvements for repeatability and scalability
Mentor and support the technical growth of junior technicians; promote a strong, hands‑on, solutions‑oriented culture
Monitor work progress against schedules and flag risks or blockers to leadership
Maintain a safe, organized, and high‑efficiency workspace that meets or exceeds 5S and quality standards
Travel to support off‑site test campaigns or flight operations as required
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
5+ years of experience in avionics integration, harness assembly, or electronic systems development (preferably in aerospace or automotive)
2+ years of technical leadership or team coordination experience
Proficient in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings
Advanced skills in cable harness fabrication, soldering (including PCB‑level), and electronic test procedures
Familiarity with electronic test equipment such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and signal generators
Strong communication skills and the ability to convey technical direction clearly across disciplines
Experience supporting fast‑paced, hardware‑driven development cycles
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted and travel to test or build sites when needed
Comfortable working evenings/weekends during critical project phases
Preferred Skills and Experience
Experience supporting flight hardware in startup or R&D‑focused aerospace programs
Deep knowledge of rack integration, signal routing, EMI/EMC awareness, and avionics packaging
Familiarity with RF systems, sensors, DAQ hardware, and power distribution
IPC certifications (J‑STD‑001, IPC‑620/610) and/or NASA‑STD‑8739.4
Experience mentoring or training junior team members
Working knowledge of GD&T, CAD viewer tools, and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace
NCATT or related avionics technician certifications a plus
