Description
Hiring a Tier 3 System Administrator – this is the top technical support layer for global IT infrastructure. It’s not entry‑level or mid‑level; this person will be one of the most experienced admins in the team. You will report directly to the Director of IT and will be responsible for keeping 600 Windows servers and 120 Linux servers patched, secure, and performing well. The environment is primarily Windows, so the candidate needs deep experience with Windows Server. On top of that, candidates must be strong in Linux administration at scale and VMware storage ownership.
Day in the Life In this vital role, you will implement, maintain, and support global system environments across multiple locations and countries. You will be responsible for configuring server hardware, software, and storage solutions to meet our diverse global business needs. As an experienced point of contact, you will provide expert systems support to teams, network users, and other business units, addressing and resolving technical issues efficiently.
Responsibilities
Provide operational support for 600 Windows Servers (emphasis on Windows Server 2016 and newer) and 120 SUSE Linux (SLES 12 and SLES 15) including patching, monitoring server performance and service availability within compliance to Service Level Agreements.
Manage and upgrade VCenter 7 and later with 40+ ESXi hosts.
Manage Omnissa Horizon virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) pools and remote desktop services (RDS).
Resolve high tier incidents and requests escalated from other support tiers.
Leverage or build appropriate technical tools to perform administration tasks, root‑cause analysis and service restoration (such as backup, restore, failover, log interpretation, and performance monitoring).
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for all routine systems administration functions to ensure security requirements and operational goals are achieved.
Manage and upgrade Dell EMC Unity storage arrays.
Partner with the app development, security, and project management teams to help implement new systems and services. Develop automation tools and processes to help scale operations.
Qualifications
Prefer a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field of study.
More than 7 years of experience in supporting Microsoft enterprise technology (Active Directory, GPO, DHCP, DNS, DFS, Print services, File shares, etc.) and managing/troubleshooting Windows Servers.
Skills Windows Server, systems administration, Linux SUSE server support, VMware, PowerShell, SAN storage, Cisco, Active Directory, GPO, DHCP, DNS, DFS.
Additional Experience & Qualifications
More than 5 years of experience managing and troubleshooting Linux operating systems, especially SUSE Linux.
Ability to write complex automation scripts using PowerShell and experience administering Omnissa/VMware Horizon.
Preferred Certifications: ITIL Certification.
More than 7 years of experience in managing virtual machines using VMware hypervisors on Cisco UCS hardware and using Dell EMC SAN storage.
Experience Level Expert Level.
Job Type & Location Permanent position based out of Corona, CA. Hybrid.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $84,000 – $123,000 per year.
