Neighborhood House Charter School (NHCS) is a tuition‑free, open‑enrollment charter school for grades K1‑12 located in Dorchester, serving over 800 students from Dorchester, Roxbury, and Mattapan. We prioritize the social‑emotional well‑being of students, believing that a well‑coached, supported educator is crucial to their academic and SEL growth. Role Overview
A Mobility Paraprofessional provides 1‑1 personal assistance to scholars with mobility needs, including transferring, positioning, and using adaptive equipment. The role requires collaboration with special education staff, therapists, and classroom teachers to support individualized student plans. Qualifications
Prior experience working with students with physical or mobility challenges in a school or related setting. Familiarity with safe transfer techniques, positioning, and adaptive equipment. Experience providing 1:1 support, ensuring safety and dignity. Ability to collaborate with special education staff, physical and occupational therapists, and classroom teachers. Strong understanding of student confidentiality, professional boundaries, and inclusive education practices. Compassion, patience, and commitment to fostering independence and confidence in students with diverse needs.
