Tyra Biosciences, Inc., a clinical-stage public biotechnology company based in Carlsbad, California, is seeking a responsible, detail‑oriented, and proactive Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. This role is instrumental in supporting company’s financial operations, with a primary focus on general ledger accounting, and offers a unique opportunity to grow within a dynamic, fast‑paced biotech environment.
Responsibilities
Prepare and post journal entries and account reconciliations for key areas including, but not limited to, cash, deposits, prepaid expenses, accounts payable, accrued R&D, leases, other liabilities, and allocations.
Support the month‑end and quarter‑end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to support purchasing and month‑end close activities.
Assist with quarterly reviews and annual audits, including preparation of audit schedules and documentation.
Prepare tax‑related deliverables, including provision support, tax return inputs, and compliance filings.
Review procurement documentation (requisitions, change orders, invoices) for accuracy and policy compliance.
Serve as a backup for Accounts Payable functions, including invoice coding and 1099 reporting.
Ensure compliance with US GAAP and SOX internal controls.
Support the Finance department by performing other duties and ad‑hoc projects as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required); CPA (strongly preferred).
3+ years of progressive accounting experience; Big 4 public accounting experience strongly preferred.
Experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry strongly preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word required; experience with NetSuite, Coupa, Equity Edge, and ADP is a plus.
Strong organizational and time‑management skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders, while maintaining strict confidentiality.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment across departments.
Compensation This role may be eligible for a discretionary annual performance bonus and equity grants.
