Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and detail‑oriented
Accountant
to join our on‑site team in Chicago. This role plays a key part in supporting operational and scientific excellence by ensuring our financial processes remain accurate, efficient, and aligned with the demands of a rapidly evolving biotech environment.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate general ledger records and prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
Support month‑end and year‑end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
Track R&D expenses, project costs, grants, and specialized biotech‑related expenditures.
Manage accounts payable/receivable and vendor relationships, including scientific suppliers, labs, and partner organizations.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial models used by both operational and scientific teams.
Collaborate closely with on‑site research, operations, and leadership teams to ensure accurate cost allocation and financial transparency.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and industry‑specific reporting requirements.
Support annual audits and help strengthen internal controls as the company scales.
Identify opportunities to streamline processes and contribute to continuous improvement of financial operations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CPA‑track preferred.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting best practices.
Proficiency with accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP) and Excel.
Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills and ability to partner effectively with cross‑functional teams.
Ability to work fully on‑site at our Chicago headquarters and thrive in a fast‑paced, mission‑driven environment.
