Work Arrangement This role has a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations (Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) will be expected to work in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Remote candidates may come to an office as business needs arise.
Responsibilities
As a leader, you’ll be responsible for delivering and enabling Technology Strategy for various Lines of Businesses within the Hartford.
Develop and deliver a technology strategy for one or more LOBs in alignment with EA's overall Technology Strategy.
Ensure solution architecture roadmaps created by LOB architects are aligned with the tailored technology strategy for each LOB.
Create a view of the current state technology landscape and identify technology gaps.
Propose new technologies (BPM, BPA, LCAP, IPaaS, RPA, Blockchain, GenAI and Agentic AI etc.) to address identified gaps and create a target state technology landscape.
Ensure compliance with EA standards and industry regulations (HIPAA, GDPR, SOX).
Develop reference architectures to guide LOB architects in integrating new technologies with the existing technology landscape.
Own and maintain the reference architecture for shared platforms used across the enterprise and ensure consistent adoption across LOBs.
Drive rationalization of the application portfolio, ensuring each application serves a clear business purpose.
Conduct comprehensive technology assessments in partnership with LOB architects to evaluate existing and emerging technologies and frameworks for GenAI, Agentic AI and Blockchain capabilities.
Lead analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine potential impacts on technology strategy.
Create and maintain EA enablers such as technology standards, reference architecture blueprints, enterprise-level architecture decisions, technology decision trees, and a catalog of reusable reference architecture patterns.
Facilitate technology selection workshops and proof‑of‑concept projects to assess the viability and integration of technologies into the business environment.
Provide expert guidance on the application of new technologies to enhance the operational effectiveness and strategic value of the IT landscape.
Deliver reference architecture blueprints supported by reference implementations.
Provide training and mentoring to junior Enterprise Architects.
Qualifications
Minimum Years of Experience: At least 8-10 years of experience in enterprise architecture, with a focus on leading large‑scale IT projects and initiatives.
Industry Experience: Prior experience as an Enterprise Architect within the insurance sector or similar regulated industries is highly desirable.
Leadership Experience: Demonstrated experience in managing and leading cross‑functional teams in a complex organizational environment.
Technical Proficiency: Expertise in IT infrastructure, software development, and architecture modeling tools and languages.
Strategic Thinking: Ability to analyze industry trends, business opportunities, and articulate long‑term visions and objectives.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of management and staff.
Problem‑Solving: Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and offer solutions in complex situations.
Required Education: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
Preferred Education: An MBA or equivalent advanced degree is highly valued.
Architecture Certification: TOGAF, AWS Certified Solution Architect Associate or Professional, GCP Professional Cloud Architect or similar certifications are preferred to demonstrate a formal understanding of architecture frameworks.
Enterprise Architecture Experience: Proven experience in enterprise architecture and technology strategy development.
Technology Experience:
Strong understanding of AWS Well‑Architected Framework and deep experience with AWS Compute, Network, Storage, and Database services.
GCP Cloud Architecture: Expertise in GCP services such as Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Cloud SQL, VPC networking, IAM, and GCP security best practices.
Agentic AI Architecture – Expertise in one of the following frameworks: LangChain & LangGraph or Google ADK and Agentic AI design patterns using GCP or AWS technology stack such as Vertex AI or Bedrock.
Reference Architecture – Experience in creating and maintaining reference architectures and technology standards.
Technology assessment – Ability to conduct comprehensive technology assessments and drive application portfolio rationalization.
Conducting workshops: Experience in facilitating technology selection workshops and proof‑of‑concept projects.
Training skills: Experience in training and mentoring junior architects.

Compensation The listed annualized base pay range is $163,040 - $244,560. Base pay may vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors such as performance and proficiency. Other rewards may include short‑term or annual bonuses, long‑term incentives, and on‑the‑spot recognition.
