Position Overview:
The Director of Construction Trades Institute is responsible for planning, organizing, managing, implementing, reviewing, and analyzing the project to ensure compliance with funder’s requirements, achieve objectives and outcomes, and successful implementation. This temporary grant‑funded position will be eligible for the Florida Retirement System after six months of continuous employment and is funded through June 30, 2028, contingent upon grant extensions.
Responsibilities
Oversee the development of construction trades programs, ensuring alignment with industry standards.
Collaborate on curriculum development, job placement initiatives, and advisory board activities.
Develop and implement initiatives to support student success, retention, and completion within construction trades programs.
Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of facilities, labs, and equipment used for construction trades education.
Represent the department and institution at community events, industry conferences, and networking opportunities.
Prepare and submit reports to grantors, detailing project progress, outcomes, and overall status.
Ensure compliance with college and funding agency policies, procedures, and regulations.
Identify opportunities for program growth, innovation, and expansion to meet the evolving needs of the construction industry.
Review and prepare materials for dissemination via articles, reports, presentations, etc.
Hire, supervise, and evaluate project staff.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Master’s degree and three (3) years of related experience; or Bachelor’s degree and seven (7) years of related experience, including three (3) years of professional experience in the construction industry.
All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution.
Knowledge and understanding of college organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures.
Strong knowledge of construction industry practices, technologies, and workforce trends.
Familiarity with relevant software and technology tools used in construction trades education.
Experience with accreditation processes and standards for technical education programs.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Experience planning, coordinating, and organizing complex, multi‑activity projects (preferably in an educational setting).
Knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office and specific computer programs related to the area of responsibility.
Strong leadership skills that promote dedication, creativity, innovation, and growth.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions for reporting purposes.
Ability to present information effectively to groups of managers, clients, customers, students, and the public.
Ability to develop cooperative relationships among faculty, staff, administration, and college leadership.
Ability to work in a multi‑ethnic and multi‑cultural environment with students, faculty, and staff.
Additional Requirements:
Successful completion of a background screening and reference check process.
