Mechanical Test Engineer
Job Description Mechanical Test Engineer on a contract-to-hire basis. The role requires working closely with mechanical and structural design teams and test staff to conduct a variety of mechanical tests—including static loads, water ingress, vibration, and shock—while collaborating with internal teams and external labs to ensure test requirements meet relevant specifications and engineering needs, planning multiple tests simultaneously.
Responsibilities
Execute test plans for component, subsystem, and system‑level testing.
Assist in the design and development of test fixtures.
Supervise testing at external labs, ensuring detailed documentation and diligent inspections.
Manage scheduling for multiple test labs, accommodating a dynamic production schedule to achieve optimal test coverage.
Prepare and deliver detailed test reports, summarizing findings, conclusions, and recommendations for design enhancements or corrective actions.
Travel up to 20% to external labs for mechanical testing.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Functional understanding of common sensors used in mechanical testing.
Experience using data acquisition hardware and software for test setup and data analysis.
Proficiency in MATLAB or Python for programming, controlling test equipment, and data processing.
Proven experience in converting data into meaningful conclusions and communicating them to a wide audience.
Experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams and proactively gathering stakeholder input.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Interest in a hands‑on role setting up new R&D test capabilities and data collection in a lab environment.
Work Environment The position is on‑site in Berkeley, offering an opportunity to work closely with cutting‑edge technologies in a dynamic and collaborative setting.

Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $65.00–$80.00/hr.
