Job Overview As a Steam Power Field Services & Technical Advising Specialist, you will travel extensively to customer sites across the Americas. You will support them with installation, maintenance, and warranty work on industrial power generation equipment. This position requires you to be a Lead Generator Specialist authorizing you to perform both generator repair work and test and inspection assignments.

Role & Responsibilities

Support installation, maintenance, and warranty work on industrial power generation equipment.

Travel to customer sites in the Americas, primarily within the U.S., with possible international trips.

Provide on‑site technical direction for Steam Turbine Generator Systems.

Review plant engineering documents and P&ID’s, troubleshoot plant systems and equipment.

Plan, organize, integrate, and direct resources such as labor, tools, and materials.

Safely manage maintenance and repair of equipment used in power generation applications.

Assist in driving Steam Power vision and align with core values.

Technical Expertise & Knowledge

Generator Design and Construction

In‑depth understanding of generator design principles and construction techniques for GE and Alstom OEM generators.

Stay updated with latest advancements and technologies in generator systems.

Inspection Procedures

Master various generator inspection procedures, including visual inspections, NDT, and performance testing.

Utilize specialized tools and equipment to conduct thorough inspections.

Test & Measurement

Perform insulation resistance, winding resistance, and performance tests, including low voltage and high voltage (>600 V).

Interpret test results accurately to assess generator condition.

Repair & Maintenance

Lead crew and provide technical guidance in repairing and maintaining industrial generators.

Diagnose faults and determine root causes.

Execute winding and stator/rotor repairs.

Perform routine maintenance for optimal performance.

On‑Site Support & Troubleshooting

Travel to customer sites for installation, maintenance, and warranty work.

Collaborate with customer personnel to understand needs and challenges.

Identify and resolve technical issues promptly.

Recommend improvements to enhance reliability.

Documentation & Reporting

Prepare detailed reports of inspections, test results, and repair work.

Maintain accurate records and communicate findings to stakeholders.

Safety & Compliance

Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment.

Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and customer specifications.

Stay informed of regulatory changes affecting operations.

Continuous Improvement & Training

Participate in ongoing training & professional development.

Stay current with industry trends and best practices.

Qualifications

Technical degree/bachelor's in electrical or mechanical engineering, or equivalent with a 3.0+ GPA; OR high school diploma/GED with 6+ years in field services or power generation maintenance.

Experience with electrical test equipment: Megohmmeters, Hipot test sets, Digital low resistance ohmmeters, multimeters.

Experience with GE and Alstom OEM technology.

Capability to work in physically demanding environments, confined spaces, and heights.

Prior experience as field engineer, winder, or comparable role.

Experience working on customer sites.

Proficiency with performance testing of electrical generators.

Fast‑learner, self‑starter, technically oriented.

Strong skills reading electrical/mechanical schematics and flow diagrams.

Determination and perseverance in challenging situations.

English proficiency.

Willingness to travel, work holidays, weekends, overtime.

Experience with OEM generator equipment.

Salary & Compensation For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, pay range is $91,400.00 – $152,200.00. Geographic differential may apply. Specific pay offered may be influenced by experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
