Consulting Member Of Technical Staff - TSO JOB DESCRIPTION

We are facing several engineering challenges in critical foundational data-plane services that power the next‑gen OCI cloud. We need you to challenge existing engineering assumptions and boundaries, bring in your expertise in highly performant, reliable, and available system engineering to take OCI data‑planes to the next level. This is your opportunity to build innovative solutions for our customers from the ground up.

Our team is still young and growing fast, working on ambitious new initiatives such as providing a canonical implementation of core components for data planes through a data‑plane runtime framework, developing a remote storage solution with latency and performance comparable to that of a local NVMe drive, and creating standards and tooling to identify critical performance improvements across OCI data‑planes.

We are looking for self‑motivated technical leaders with passion and expertise in solving challenging system, data‑plane level architecture and performance problems. You should be a rock‑solid developer able to dive deep into low‑level systems, design solutions in networking, storage, and high‑scale data‑planes. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.

Take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures.

Perform software development tasks associated with developing, designing and debugging software applications or operating systems.

Work with Engineering Managers and TPMs, providing direct guidance to junior team members.

Drive engineering peer reviews, code reviews and project bootstrapping while balancing speed and quality with iteration and incremental improvements.

Automate and instrument services to improve process and service quality.

Instill a culture of high quality and customer focus through operational excellence.

Key Qualifications

10+ years of experience engineering robust, distributed services in high‑performing software development environments.

Deep, hands‑on experience designing, building, and operating public cloud service control planes at scale.

Proven track record of delivering performance‑optimized cloud infrastructure and high‑availability distributed systems.

Mastery in software performance profiling, analysis, and optimization.

Rich knowledge of object‑oriented design patterns and SDK development, particularly within cloud ecosystems.

Strong command of core computer science areas, including data structures, algorithms, operating systems, distributed systems fundamentals, and networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, HTTP).

Comprehensive understanding of database technologies, NoSQL stores, storage solutions, and distributed persistence architectures.

Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership and mentor engineering teams for continuous growth and high‑impact results.

Successful collaboration with architects and cross‑functional partners to deliver innovative product features on time and to high quality standards.

Familiarity with JVM‑based environments and benchmarking tools for optimizing performance across the stack.
