The Field Service Engineer is responsible for customer satisfaction in all aspects of the job, including increased throughput, decreased downtime, regular preventive maintenance, and upgrades as deemed necessary by Leica Microsystems technical staff. A clear advocate for the customer (internal and external) and a steward for the company.

This role reports directly to the District Service Manager and is part of the Life Sciences Service Organization. The position is remote‑based, with a primary service area covering the Mid‑Atlantic region, including a regular driving commute to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland.

In This Role, You Will Have the Opportunity to

The essential requirements of the job include associate’s degree in mechanical, electrical, biological science or military equivalent.

1 year of computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite, Windows base networking) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).

Minimum 3 years of troubleshooting skills and ability to use documentation for troubleshooting.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements

Local travel required daily; ability to travel overnight 40‑50% of the time.

Territory includes Maryland, District of Columbia, Virginia & West Virginia.

Valid passport or equivalent for travel into Europe.

Ability to lift 50 pounds.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in

2+ years of prior field service experience in a related field or military equivalent.

Bachelor’s degree in a science discipline or type of engineering degree.

Inventory management, including cycle counts, updating car stock, and returning aging inventory.

The hourly range for this role is

$38.00 to $40.00 . This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting and may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
