The Field Service Engineer is responsible for customer satisfaction in all aspects of the job. Increased throughput, decreased downtime, regular preventive maintenance, and regular upgrades as deemed by Leica Microsystems technical staff. A clear advocate for the customer (internal and external) and a steward for the company.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in mechanical, electrical, biological science or military equivalent.
- 1 year of computer literate (Microsoft Office Suite, Windows base networking) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Minimum 3 years of troubleshooting skills and ability to use documentation for the purposes of troubleshooting.
Travel Requirements
- Local travel is required daily; ability to travel overnight 40‑50% of the time.
- Territory includes Maryland, District of Columbia, Virginia & West Virginia.
- A valid passport or equivalent for travel into Europe.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Preferred Experience
- 2+ years of prior field service experience in a related field or military equivalent.
- Bachelor's degree in a science discipline or engineering degree.
- Experience in inventory management, including cycle counts and returning aging inventory.
Remote Work
This position is eligible for a remote work arrangement in which you can work remotely from your home. Additional information about this remote work arrangement will be provided by your interview team.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
