is looking for an Executive Team Leader – Human Resources to join our San Jose team. This role reports directly to the Retail Manager.
Pay range:
$83,200.00 - $130,000.00 based on experience, market and qualifications.

About Human Resources You will lead a team of HR Experts and Team Leaders, supporting store and business leaders on talent strategy, compliance, and performance.
Key Competencies
Experience creating and managing HR strategies and goals, delivering results through a team
Ability to read financial reporting and interpret data
Knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws
Skills in recruiting, selecting and talent management of hourly team members and leaders
Ability to support business leaders; coaching and consulting with them in growing the business and selecting and developing their teams
Ability to influence across levels and partners
Typical Responsibilities
Lead and create a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience, model, train and coach teams to deliver the service standard
Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors and proactively managing bias
Drive total store sales and understand your role in sales growth and how your team contributes to profitability
Plan, lead and follow up on organizational and operational change
Anticipate and identify changes in store trends and leverage guest insights to drive the business
Champion a culture where teams love to work and guests love to shop; recognize service behaviors and reward outstanding performance
Build teams committed to continuous learning through ongoing observations and reinforcement of guest‑service and sales behaviors
Support the leadership team in ensuring equitable experiences and strengthening inclusion acumen
Engage and educate store teams on Target’s community initiatives and build relationships important to the community
Leverage gift card and volunteer accounts to enhance brand awareness and engage team in volunteerism
Lead an open‑door culture where team members feel heard and issues are quickly resolved
Support leaders in creating schedules that meet both guest and team needs and reduce scheduling fluctuations
Guide all store leaders in hiring and onboarding the right talent for the team
Develop and coach HR Experts and Team Leaders to solve problems and engage team members
Manage all team operational programs related to culture, pay, rewards and benefits to maximize engagement
Develop and coach team leaders to elevate skills and expertise
Establish a culture of accountability with clear expectations and performance management
Deliver a safe, ethical, secure retail environment and follow all training and procedures
Address store needs (emergency, regulatory visits, etc.) and perform all other duties as needed

Experience leading teams in a fast‑paced retail environment; not a traditional desk job
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; business acumen and problem solving
Comfortable dealing with ambiguity, managing conflict, and holding others accountable
Training Target provides comprehensive training for this role; you should bring a 4‑year degree or equivalent experience and be prepared to learn current technology.
Additional Expectations
Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues
Interpret instructions, reports and information accurately
Lift and move merchandise up to 40 lbs safely
Accurately handle cash register operations
Flexible work schedule (nights, weekends, holidays) and regular attendance
