The Senior Geotechnical Project Manager is responsible for leading complex geotechnical projects from inception through completion, managing client relationships, and mentoring junior staff. This individual combines technical expertise with strong project management skills and commercial awareness to deliver high-quality solutions across diverse sectors.
The role involves oversight of subsurface investigations, foundation and earth-retaining system design, slope stability, ground improvement, pavement evaluations, and construction‑phase engineering support. The Senior Project Manager serves as a trusted advisor to clients while ensuring projects meet scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
Base pay range $125,000.00/yr - $160,000.00/yr
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
Develop scopes, budgets, and schedules for geotechnical projects.
Direct drilling programs, in‑situ testing (SPT, CPT, DMT, PMT), instrumentation, and laboratory testing.
Perform and review analyses for shallow/deep foundations, earth‑retaining systems, slopes, and ground improvement techniques.
Prepare and seal geotechnical reports and recommendations.
Project Management
Monitor project financials, WIP, and change orders.
Coordinate resources, subcontractors, and field operations.
Client Engagement
Act as primary client contact; lead meetings and presentations.
Support business development through proposals and account growth.
Construction Support
Provide engineering oversight during construction, including RFIs, submittals, and troubleshooting.
Team Development
Mentor engineers and technicians; ensure QA/QC compliance.
Qualifications
B.S. in Civil Engineering
(Geotechnical emphasis);
M.S. preferred.
PE license
in Texas or ability to obtain within 6 months.
8-15+ years
of geotechnical experience with proven project management.
Proficiency in software such as
gINT, PLAXIS, LPILE, SLIDE, SLOPE/W, GeoStudio .
Strong knowledge of
IBC, AASHTO, FHWA, ASTM , and TxDOT specifications.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Preferred Experience
Transportation, commercial, industrial, or energy sector projects.
Design‑build delivery and constructability reviews.
Prior mentorship and team leadership experience.
