The Geotechnical Project Engineer plays a key role in delivering geotechnical engineering solutions for infrastructure, commercial, and industrial projects. This individual supports project managers by performing technical analyses, preparing reports, and coordinating field investigations, while gaining exposure to client interaction and project leadership responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in developing scopes, budgets, and schedules for geotechnical projects.
Plan and oversee field investigations, including drilling programs and in‑situ testing (SPT, CPT, DMT).
Analyze soil and rock data for foundations, retaining structures, slopes, and ground improvement.
Prepare geotechnical reports, design recommendations, and construction‑phase support documents.
Coordinate with technicians and subcontractors for field and lab work.
Ensure QA/QC compliance and contribute to internal standards development.
Support project managers in client meetings and technical presentations.
Qualifications
B.S. in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical emphasis); M.S. preferred.
EIT certification required; ability to obtain PE license within a defined timeframe.
2-6 years of geotechnical engineering experience.
Familiarity with software such as gINT, SLIDE, SLOPE/W, LPILE, PLAXIS.
Knowledge of IBC, AASHTO, FHWA, ASTM, and TxDOT specifications.
Strong technical writing and communication skills.
Preferred Experience
Experience with transportation, commercial, or industrial projects.
Exposure to design‑build delivery and constructability reviews.
Field experience with drilling and testing programs.
