We are seeking an experienced Highway Design Project Manager to lead and manage highway design projects in Florida. This role is ideal for a results‑driven professional who thrives in both technical and leadership capacities, with a passion for delivering innovative transportation solutions for clients.
Qualifications
Registered PE
in the State of Florida
Minimum of 15 years FDOT and highway‑specific project experience
A BS degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Highway/Transportation Design from an ABET‑accredited college or university
Experience pursuing and managing multi‑discipline projects, including bridge replacement, new bridge alignment, or bridge rehabilitation
Client relationships with FDOT District Four and FDOT District Six
Proficiency in MicroStation and Bentley Open Road Designer; familiarity with AASHTO standards
Ability to work in a team environment with a professional sense of urgency and self‑initiative to meet client needs
Strong work ethic and ability to mentor junior engineers
Detail oriented with excellent oral and written communication skills and fluency in English
Responsibilities
Pursue and win projects with FDOT and local agency clients
Prepare proposals and marketing presentations
Manage multiple projects and project teams within budget and schedule
Develop preliminary details using CAD software and provide information to CAD technicians and junior engineers for contract plan development
Lead and manage the planning, design, and delivery of highway and roadway projects from concept through construction
Oversee and coordinate project teams, ensuring work is completed on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with design standards
Serve as the primary client contact, fostering strong relationships and ensuring client satisfaction
Provide technical oversight and quality assurance for roadway geometric design, drainage, traffic control, and related highway design elements
Develop and monitor project scopes, budgets, and schedules; prepare proposals and cost estimates
Mentor and develop junior engineers, promoting a culture of collaboration and growth
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and agencies to ensure project success
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Perform roadway design tasks and plan preparation utilizing Open Road Designer, from conception to final deliverables, including specs package and cost estimate
Review and check roadway and shop drawings; prepare project‑related documents and internal correspondence
Perform and check quantity take‑offs from contract plans
