Hours 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (Mon-Fri) Hybrid

Compensation At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position in the United States is $113,740-$150,647.20. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Key Responsibilities

Lead power hardware subsystems product development as a technical lead with support of project management, often contributing to multi-discipline issues on major product developments with cross-organizational teams.

Solve design and manufacturing related problems through use of fundamental engineering calculations and theory.

Develop product design specifications and test plans. Coordinate and perform product testing with input from cross-functional teams.

Modify existing designs or develop new designs of components and subsystems, either alone or leading/collaborating with a team of cross-functional and cross-organizational engineers and designers.

Evaluate materials from standpoint of dielectric, environmental, and mechanical performance. Provide insights and recommendations to the design teams.

Participate in Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA) events.

Research IEEE, IEC, and other applicable industry standards and apply to product development.

Conduct studies and make analysis, interpretations, and conclusions based on tests and research. Report out the results to senior leadership.

Write test reports and certifications for internal and external customers. Communicate results directly to internal and external customers.

Mentor engineers and designers both within the Development Engineering group and occasionally outside of the group.

What You’ll Need To Succeed

BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. With a dual degree in Materials Science preferred.

Strong knowledge in metallurgy.

10+ years of experience of product development.

Experience with designing products subjected to underground environments.

Experience supporting major product development and knowledge of project management.

Fundamental knowledge of power engineering theory is preferred.

Prior experience with high voltage and high-power testing is preferred.

Experience with relevant IEEE and IEC industry standards is preferred.

Experience with CAD/CAM and FEA. Experience with SolidEdge and ANSYS/Maxwell preferred.

Experience with manufacturing processes, tolerance analysis, application of GD&T, and FMEAs.

Desire to work hands‑on in a manufacturing environment.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to build and grow professional relationships.

Very good interpersonal and organizational skills.
