Job Summary Assists in the education of staff within community and hospital‑based ambulatory clinics. Requires traveling to all Academic Clinics or UC Davis Health Community Clinic locations to work various shifts for varying lengths of time across the greater Sacramento, Placer, and Yolo counties. Provides new‑employee orientation in collaboration with the CPPN, arranges required trainings for new hires, and offers ongoing education in areas such as medication administration, IV skills, mock codes, PPE use, and PAPR training. Helps develop standardization of training and practice within all ambulatory areas and works closely with the Quality nurse on compliance training.
Minimum Qualifications
Registered Nurse with a clear and active California license.
American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR certification.
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) obtained within 3 years of hire date.
Minimum of five (5) years of recent RN experience.
Progressive experience in professional staff development.
Demonstrated experience in nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements.
Recent experience designing, delivering, and evaluating educational programs for healthcare workforce.
Demonstrated knowledge of nursing practice standards and relevant regulatory requirements.
Ability to plan and implement adult learning activities using a variety of modalities.
Proven ability to organize, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
Leadership: demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with staff at all levels.
Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
Demonstrated strong skills in project management.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills to implement education programs.
Demonstrated proficiency in educational technology use.
Adapts to change in a positive, professional, and productive manner.

Preferred Qualifications
Nursing Professional Development Certification.
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a specialization in Nursing Education.
Ambulatory nursing experience.
Procedural or conscious sedation nursing experience.
Progressive leadership experience.
Knowledge of accreditation standards for primary programs, including BRN, ANCC, AHA, PTAP.

Department Overview The Ambulatory Care Division provides a full complement of facilities and services including primary and specialty care hospital‑based teaching clinics, community clinics, and research clinics. It oversees 40 hospital‑based clinics and 25 medical practices across Sacramento, Yolo, and Placer counties, as well as infusion centers, gastroenterology procedure labs, imaging centers, and neuroscience and sleep labs. Ambulatory operations also offer virtual care through office‑based primary care, specialty telehealth video visits, eConsults, and extended‑hours telehealth express care. The Division is committed to maintaining a fully integrated Academic Health Center that excels in patient care and enhances educational and research initiatives.
