Overview
Department: Emergency Unit
Schedule: Full-Time, Night Shift / Rotating Weekends
Facility: St. Mary's of Nazareth Hospital
Location: Chicago, IL 60622
Responsibilities
Deliver safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Provide direct patient care within the scope of practice.
Guide patient/family teaching and oversee activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards.
Maintain direct responsibility and accountability for the care of patients in the Emergency Department.
Communicate with physicians regarding changes in patient clinical condition, diagnostic results, and symptomatology.
Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition or treatment responses.
Apply knowledge of EMTALA regulations and report child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker.
Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
Qualifications
Current and valid state RN license.
Current BLS certificate upon hire.
Current ACLS certificate within 30 days upon hire.
Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC within 30 days upon hire.
Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
Minimum of one year experience as a staff RN in an acute care hospital setting; ER setting preferred.
Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Facility Specific Requirements
Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire.
EDAP Certified Facilities: Completion of Emergency Pediatric Course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire.
Non-OB Facilities: NRP certificate within 90 days of hire.
Trauma Designated Facilities: Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) required within 12 months of hire; Non-trauma facilities TNCC preferred.
