Overview An established concrete contractor with a multi state presence is seeking a Director of Construction to oversee operations, drive project excellence, and support continued growth across Northern California. The organization is known for executing complex structural concrete packages, operating with a strong internal infrastructure, and maintaining long‑term relationships with top general contractors. They are financially strong, have a deep bench of field leadership, and consistently deliver on large commercial, data center, parking structure, healthcare, and institutional projects.

Position Summary The Director of Construction will oversee all project and field execution throughout Northern California. This leader will be responsible for operational performance, team leadership, client satisfaction, and driving revenue growth through improved delivery, repeat business, and strategic collaboration with the preconstruction team. This position requires a strong background in structural concrete, the ability to manage teams on multiple large projects, and a data‑driven approach to operations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and mentor project managers, superintendents, and field teams
Oversee execution of structural concrete projects ranging from mid‑rise to large commercial and institutional builds
Ensure schedule performance, quality control, safety, and profitability across active projects
Partner with estimating and preconstruction to support budget development, constructability, and project strategy
Develop and maintain strong relationships with general contractors and owners
Drive operational efficiencies and standardization across teams
Support business development by influencing client retention and helping secure new opportunities
Track project financials, forecast margins, and identify areas for optimization
Contribute to long‑term strategic planning with senior leadership
Qualifications
10 or more years of experience in concrete construction or with a concrete self‑performing GC, with at least 5 in a senior leadership role
Proven background managing large commercial or structural concrete projects
History of leading and scaling project teams
Strong financial acumen including forecasting, margins, cost control, and operational KPIs
Ability to influence revenue through performance, repeat business, and strategic client relationships
Strong communication skills and a leadership style that builds trust and accountability
