Mercor is seeking PhD holders, doctoral candidates, and outstanding Master’s graduates in physics and related disciplines to join a high-impact AI research initiative in partnership with a leading artificial intelligence lab.This position focuses on evaluating and advancing large language models (LLMs) by applying deep expertise in theoretical and applied physics to assess model reasoning, accuracy, and depth across advanced physical science domains.

Key Responsibilities Evaluate
scientific correctness, conceptual rigor, and depth
of LLM-generated responses across physics and engineering topics.
Review outputs involving
mathematical modeling, experimental methods, and theoretical frameworks
in physics.
Identify
factual errors, reasoning flaws, and conceptual misunderstandings
in model outputs.
Benchmark model performance on
advanced physics and applied engineering problems .
Work
independently and asynchronously
using proprietary evaluation tools.
Requirements PhD (or PhD candidate)
in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
Strong command of
graduate-level physics and mathematical reasoning .
Excellent written communication
and analytical abilities.
Ability to
work independently in a remote, asynchronous setting .
Proficiency in Python
for scientific analysis or model evaluation preferred.
Role Details Part-time (30 hours/week)

$50–$60/hour , depending on expertise and domain depth
