Description The ideal candidate for the BIS position will work in our residential programs located in Brooklyn and Queens. The selected candidate will be responsible for oversight of all behavioral services including conducting the Functional Behavioral Analysis, developing Behavior Support Plans and Monitoring Plans to address challenging behaviors, and analyzing data collection. The BIS will provide oversight of psychiatric medications, giving written reports to the treating psychiatrist. Required to provide trainings to direct support professionals on behavior plans, appropriate interventions, and other topics related to behavior, mental health, and psychology. Implement SCIP‑R interventions as necessary. Candidates must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and possess excellent verbal and written skills.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions

Conduct annual and semi‑annual IDT reviews of individuals to report on their behavioral needs and progress.

Develop and implement behavior support plans and intervention strategies for individuals in accordance with OPWDD regulations and the agency's vision of positive behavioral supports and teaching alternative appropriate behaviors that foster maximal behavioral independence.

Train and monitor Direct Support Professionals in consistently implementing these behavior support plans and intervention strategies.

Prepare and conduct training/in‑services for individual and facility‑related issues, behavior interventions, etc.

Conduct regular observations of activities in the residence and provide written reports to the Residence Manager.

Provide written reports to treating psychiatrists regarding behavioral progress.

Keep excellent and complete records of all written work and complete all written reports and documentation in a timely manner.

Collect, interpret data, and generate required reports.

Provide weekly status updates on each program to the Director of Behavioral and Speech Services.

Provide services for multiple sites.

Qualifications

Master's degree from a program in a clinical or treatment field of psychology, social work, or school psychology.

Minimum of 1 year’s experience working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities, including the development, implementation, and monitoring of behavioral support plans and/or providing supervision and training to others in the implementation of behavioral support plans.

Must meet OPWDD BIS qualifications.

Excellent communication, teaching, and modeling skills.

Excellent verbal and written abilities.
