Position Summary The Senior Corporate Counsel will support retirement plan services and products at Ascensus with a focus on the FuturePlan business, a leading national TPA that offers plan design, consulting, administration, and compliance services. This attorney will provide legal counsel to executives and associates and will partner with Risk, Compliance, Privacy, and Information Security to identify and mitigate risk while ensuring alignment with business objectives. Key job responsibilities include: serving as subject matter expert in relevant areas of law; negotiating and drafting contracts; managing disputes and litigation; and supporting a variety of other day‑to‑day legal matters. The individual must demonstrate sound legal and business judgment. Experience in the financial services industry is strongly preferred. This is a full‑time, exempt position.
Job Functions, Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide advice and counsel to business leaders on legal, regulatory, legislative, compliance, and business issues.
Draft, negotiate, review, and interpret various contracts and other legal documents between Ascensus and its clients, partners, vendors, and other third parties.
Handle other day‑to‑day legal issues arising in a growing and complex business including disputes and litigation, employment, intellectual property, and corporate governance.

Experience, Education and Base Requirements
Juris Doctorate from an accredited U.S. law school with at least 5 years of experience.
Licensed to practice law in at least one state and in good standing.
Familiarity with ERISA and related laws and regulations.
Defined benefit plan and/or securities law experience is a plus.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced and demanding environment.
Occasional travel is required.
The national average salary range for this role is $130‑140k in base pay, exclusive of any bonuses and benefits. The base salary range reflects the low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salary offered will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, performance, and internal pay alignment. Other rewards and benefits may include 401(k) match, medical, dental, vision, paid‑time‑off, etc.
