Job Summary UCSF Medical Center enhances health and well‑being through patient care, research and education. This position supports practice operations and customer service recovery. The Practice Coordinator 3 represents the administrative team as the public face of the Practice and works closely with administrative, clinical and management teams to support practice operations and customer service efforts.
Responsibilities The Practice Coordinator 3 maintains routine clerical operations and communications. The PC3 adheres to UCSF House and Telephone Standards and is sensitive to the needs of patients, staff and providers. The PC3 is a team player who works closely with others, is flexible with changing priorities and is a self‑reliant individual who synthesizes knowledge of practice operations to problem‑solve, prioritize and facilitate complex transactions daily.
Required Qualifications
High School graduate or equivalent with four years related experience; or college degree and 6 months related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Passes fingerprinting protocol and approved to be a cash collector.
Strong computer skills, including basic keyboarding and at least two Office‑type programs (Outlook, Word, Excel). Proven ability to navigate multiple patient record systems. Able to sit at a computer terminal with telephone headphones for extended periods.
Ability to analyze situations, prioritize, develop solutions and make recommendations.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and use good judgment under deadlines.
Excellent customer service and communication/interpersonal skills, over the telephone and directly.
Basic math skills required.
Demonstrated administrative/office coordination skills.
Knowledge of medical practice terminology.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in health care (patient scheduling, insurance verification, medical record data abstraction, or patient financial services).
Prior experience with appointment, ancillary service or surgical scheduling.
Bi‑lingual or multi‑lingual capability (Spanish, Cantonese, Russian) strongly preferred.
Prior experience with EPIC.
